Interview with Sean Rafferty on In Tune BBC R3, 18/09/17 to promote the premiere of 'The Rain is Coming'. We chatted about the genesis of the project and writting for the voice - including writing for Voice Vocal Trio and an except of 'How Sweetly You Burn' from their album 'Patterns of Love'. A contemporary response to Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin, told from a female perspective The Rain Is Coming will be performed by British baritone Roderick Williams, OBE. Created by composer Emily Levy and writer Rommi Smith this collaboration addresses the gender imbalance in the romantic song concert repertoire: reversing traditional gender roles and giving voice to the Miller’s daughter and her desire for freedom.
The culmination of a collaboration with poet, Rose Drew to create a new song for this years Lieder Festival. It will be performed by Italian soprano, Diana Torti and pianist, Guy Murgatroyd and be performed alongside lots of other new works written by composer and poet duos.
