A contemporary response to Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin, told from a female perspective The Rain Is Coming will be performed by British baritone Roderick Williams, OBE. Created by composer Emily Levy and writer Rommi Smith this collaboration addresses the gender imbalance in the romantic song concert repertoire: reversing traditional gender roles and giving voice to the Miller’s daughter and her desire for freedom.

The culmination of a collaboration with poet, Rose Drew to create a new song for this years Lieder Festival. It will be performed by Italian soprano, Diana Torti and pianist, Guy Murgatroyd and be performed alongside lots of other new works written by composer and poet duos.
'Levy's work is packed with originality and imagination. It was worth hearing this memorable Merton concert for this alone.
